Is the phone free after bill credit or "free" is the gift card?

Unfortunately this ad is a bit misleading. At first I too thought the iPhone 8 or 8 Plus could be potentially free (too good to be true). However, after reading the fine print at the bottom of the page, the $250 Target gift card is what is "Free". The fine print states that you are guaranteed a $250 Target gift card when you lease an iPhone 8 or 8 Plus through one of the carriers and pay applicable taxes and activation fees.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I updated the title and deal to hopefully clarify what the ad states more clearly.

Last year I did this and received a target gift card, but also used AT&T's bOGO offer for one free phone. ( when you ad a line ) wonder if you can combine them this year again?

I mean, this isn't a bad deal if you were already planning on getting an iPhone 8 or 8 Plus. Why the thumbs down? You think Target would actually give away a $700/$800 phone for free? Even when the price was subsidized and you had to get a 2 year contract with a cellular service provider you still had to pay at least $200.

It states with qualified activation. Does that mean I can activate it and add it to my family plan as a new device and that would be qualified? I want to add my son to our family plan.

So, with Verizon Wireless I am able to get an upgrade from my Iphone 6. Verizon's website says I get $300 off the Iphone 8 with trade-in. Can I combine that with this offer? Or do I have to buy the phone directly through Verizon for that upgrade?

The $300 walmart gift card is a better deal IMO...you can even get the iPhone X or the 7 and still get $300 GC....

Anyone happen to know if you get the gift cards right away or is this a mail in rebate thing?

Also, anyone know if you can do more than one for multiple gift cards? I'm wanting to upgrade 3 lines to iPhone 8s this year and would go to Target for them if I could get 3 gift cards Smilie

Target is advertising $120 in gift cards as a bonus for Red Card holders on an activated iPhone. Anyone know how this works or if they stack? It is advertised alongside BF deals but I can't find any terms on targets site. If that stacks with BF deal, it beats Walmart. Also appears you can reserve phone online through target as opposed to waiting in line at Walmart.
