So this can't fast charge a Pixel 2? I wonder why. Maybe it just can't charge at the charger's fastest possible rate but can still fast charge?

Pixel 2 has been limited to 10.5 Watts from what I've read. The charger it comes with is capable of 18 Watts. Hopefully Google will open the gates a bit wider.

Reading the 10.5 Watt limitation might only be on the XL model.

Regular "fast" 2.4 Amp charging, not USB-C Power Delivery.

A standard which lets the charger/device negotiate charging rate based on need and cable quality: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB#PD

Standard USB C charging is limited to 5V 3 Amps, USB PD can go up to 100 Watts (vs around 12 Watt standard USB C limit). The device, charger and cable must all be within spec for it to function properly. The output on this particular charger is limited to standard 3 Amp output, so slightly quicker than standard USB charging - but not dramatically faster like Qualcomm's implementation.

Yes, the Note 8 supports QuickCharge 2.0 - this charger is backwards compatible.

There's gonna be a lot of confusion from people who want to "fast charge" their iPhone 8/X and don't know the difference between QC 3.0 and USB-PD

QC 4.0 can't come soon enough!

Here is an example of a USB PD car charger: https://smile.amazon.com/urlhasbe...B0711BK418

The charger has to explicitly specify USB-C PD support (usually marked with PD on actual device).

Agreed, the average person can not keep track of all this stuff. They barely know the difference between cable plug types.
