This is the second time this week that Newegg has sold this card at this price. It has also been in stock and selling for $390 for the past 36 hours or so. With almost all other reference models from other manufacturers hovering around that same pricepoint over the past few days, I've got a feeling that things demand and/or supply has changed pretty significantly recently and is pushing prices down to sane levels.

This is still only $10 less than MSRP. Given the recent trend, I think that it's safe to wait for a better deal unless you absolutely have to have one now.

Very good price. They run out of stock very quick due to miners so get then while you can...

That bubble is beginning to burst again. I'm hoping to get a nice price on something like a 470 or 580 by Xmas.

When the prices fall they fall fast. In early 2014 the 290x was selling for $900 in some places, during the summer months I remember someone saying "if you can get one for $500 just do it", then in the fall months I remember the 290x going for <$250 on ebay and the 290 for $200. That's when I got my 270x for about $100, I wish I would have just splurged for the 290.

The prices didn't rise as fast this time and won't fall as fast either, but I expect (meaning I'm totally guessing and reading tea leaves) most cards will fall to the price they were a year ago [8GB 580 for around $230 on deals, 4GB 470 around $170]

Nvidia's 1070ti just came out at around the $450 price point. I think this is more of a reaction to beat that price for similar performance.

Also consider the rebate is one per customer and you can only buy a max of 2. You won't see these sell out fast to miners. Miners buy in volume and warranties can be a real hassle.

Now the XFX Vega 56 they had for $399 Fri-Sat of last week and then $409 on Sun-mon. That sold out fast. The Sapphire was in and out of stock yesterday too. With both of those you could buy 3-5 per customer. The Powercolor has not sold out either but that may be because of the 1 yr warranty which is the lowest of the brands offering the Vega 56. You are also limited to 2 per customer. Again, not a volume buy. The MSI's are still in stock and come with 3yr warranties like the Gigabytes but they are $419 and only 2 per customer. So the cards that have the longest warranties are higher priced and/or have limitations on the amounts you can buy. The one with the shortest warranty(Powercolor) is also limited to 2 per customer. The two that have/had a 5 per customer limit and 2yr warranties were the XFX and Sapphires. With the former being pretty much sold out and the later popping in and out of 'out of stock' status. miners are likely buying these.

Third, and probably less likely, we may be on the cusp of the custom versions of these cards coming out from the vendors.

people have been speculating about the custom versions. what do you think the price to performance ratio will look like for the custom versions or will the reference cards only further drop in price?

I am not in absolute need but I have been waiting all year and unless something will change dramatically in next two months I may just jump on these deals.

I have no idea. I would bet the custom models might have better components and cooling which could provide some performance gains. They'll write their own drivers too. Will you notice the difference in performance? From what I read about other components, probably not. It's like audiophiles. They can pick out all the flaws in a sound system but to the average person it all sounds pretty good.

I ended up doing this deal versus waiting for black friday. My main thought was these cards can flash to the vega 64 easily. Not too sure if custom cards will allow this.

Plugged this in yesterday and definitely a big upgrade from my R9 290 crossfire. Fan can get a little loud but so did 2 r9 290s.

For warranty purposes. If it possible to flash back to 56 bios if I need to return it?
