This lightstrip rarely goes on sale anywhere near this price. Usually the refurbished ones are around this price or a bit lower. It's currently on sale for $49.99 as part of Best Buy's early Black Friday sale.

Plenty of good reviews. See some here at Amazon [amazon.com].

Enjoy!

Yes but these added to a hue hub can be set on a schedule, added with other bulbs for created moods, and unlike most cheaper strips can be set to a wider variety of colors. This isn't a super slick deal for anyone that doesn't already have hue products, but is slick for those of us who do.

I love hue lights but feel like the strips are way too expensive for what you get. That being said this is a relative steal.

For anyone interested might I suggest the Dresden Ballast (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NMSQ...ecyn4fThkI)

I've been playing with one recently and it allows you to use any rgb or rgbw light strip with the Phillips Hue app. It shows up and works just like a Phillips hue strip. The device isn't cheap but if you are running longer strips is more than worth it. Only problem is Hue does not report the strip to HomeKit. (But does with Alexa, odd) Which is a downer for us Apple users but with the addition of a raspberry pi homebridge this can be remedied. (Along with making more non HomeKit devices HomeKit compatible.)

That's awesome, but after buying Bluetooth speaker / led light bulbs, that video isn't likely to convince the wife... pretty sweet though!

Is this accomplishable without the Phillips hub? I have SmartThings in my house.

Good question. Does my Dot/Echo take the place of a hub since it's Alexa compatible, or do I still need one?

Any recommendations for lights like this without the smart function? I'm having an art show and looking to get some recommendations on lights. Not a big deal on smart function but it does look interesting. Rather costly at the moment though.
