Get another $25 off if you are eligible for this Amex offer: https://slickdeals.net/f/10714472-amex-spend-250-get-25-back-best-buy-ymmv

Also on sale for $399.99 from:_________________________

Please note that the MHA-L29 variant of the Huawei Mate 9 in this deal does NOT support calling and Waze on Android Auto. I have this phone and I can't even have Waze installed or Android Auto will not start. Calling only started working after I installed a modified version of the stock android dialer. It may be fixed with the future Android Oreo upgrade that Huawei is working on, but no guarantees. Huawei's support has ignored this problem since the beginning of this year with no resolution/support still so buy at your own risk! - forumz

I had a S7 Edge and it was amazing but after a few months it was very slow and needed to be charged twice a day. Plus the fingerprint scanner had was having issues. I sold it for the Mate 9 and have had it for a longer period of time. Do not have the issues Samsung has. They developed machine learning so the Apps you use most get the most resources and it cleans up and organizes files in the background to keep the phone fast. In the last presentation for the Mate 10 Huawei research showed Samsung phones slow down 200% in the first 8 months while the Mate slows down 15%. Plus this phone is getting Oreo in the next couple weeks. The downside is Hauwai does not like to warranty their products.

I've had this phone since the US version released back in January. Bets phone I've ever had. Great battery life, I can get two days out of it, and it charges super fast (but the fastest charging requires their proprietary charger, but still charges fast with standard chargers). Great reception: I consistently have great signal in places where my partner's iPhone 7 has no service on the same provider. Fast. Great control over app's battery usage. Great screen, even though it is LCD and only 1920x1080. Very bright. Great camera, can zoom and maintain good quality, great bokeh effects. Not as good in low light as current Samsung offerings, but similar to iPhone 7.

Downsides: not water resistant. Not Daydream compatible. I prefer front mounted fingerprint sensor (but many prefer it on the rear like this has). I do have one issue/bug: I wear an Android watch, and my car requires two bluetooth connections (one for calls, one for streaming music). Often times if I get in the car with the watch already connected, the car doesn't automatically connect. If I turn bluetooth on/off, the car connects.

Note for those who dislike Huawei's skin: EMUI 5 is much improved over previous versions. I actually like it: I like the control it provides over apps.

You would be in a very small minority of people who have used it who believe it's crappy. Beauty mode can be turned off.

So what's so special about this phone vs the other ones with almost the same specs?

Nice, but waiting on a deal for the mate pro. Still like phones small enough for one hand/one pocket. Need the 5.5 screen. Keep'em coming!

Anyone know their return policy on phones? Yes I'm lazy and hate shopping at best buy at this point since you only get 2 weeks on everything else. I'm not close to a best buy and returning things is a huge PIA

Fo sure. I have a Mate 9 and LG V20 and there's no comparison, like lag fest with the LG, guessing the G6 not much better.

The essential phone is a lot more compact. If you don't mind the size, I think the mate 9 is better because it is more versatile. It has a bigger battery, headphone jack, microsd slot, and IR blaster. I think Essential might have a faster processor and more of a stock Android. It also has a higher resolution screen. I don't know which camera is better though.

Where is the G6 for $399? Amazon prime with offers?

G6 has the advantage of water resistance, a smaller size, and wireless charging. Mate 9 has longer battery and IR blaster.

I think you just have to check it the phones in person to see which one you would like better.
