Between this player and Panasonic DMP-UB200, which one is better? Any pros and cons?

Don't know much about the panasonic, but CNet and The Wirecutter rated the Sony tops.

I have this player and love it. I only have a handful of 4K discs, but I haven;t had any issues with them.

Initially had a problem getting firmware updates over internet and had to load new firmware via USB. Since that initial setup, I haven't had any issues receiving updates.

Boots quickly, loads quickly, excellent PQ. Does excellent up-converting of standard def DVDs and Blu-Rays.

Was looking at the LG 970, as my tv is LG and I like to match sets. But according to Wirecutter it has one flaw that I would find completely annoying:
"When playing back discs you have to manually choose between 24p or 60p refresh rates. Other players change automatically depending on content to avoid judder, so with the LG you might see motion artifacts if you leave it in the wrong mode. This is a bewildering design choice since it requires users to have deep knowledge of video playback settings in order to watch a movie properly."
Have not seen other reviews mention this- don't know if this is accurate or something they can fix in a firmware down the line.
Also a lot of people complain of motor noise in reviews and forums, one of the reasons it has only 3 stars on Amazon.

Do yout self a favor and stay clear from the LG, I went thru 2 diferent units May and June build both gave me trouble and ended up returning them I did uploaded their Dolby Visio firmware update that came out in Sept. and although DV was excellent when it played the player had more issues afyer this update and as far as I know it is Novermber and no fixes have been made to this day to correct the last update.

Sony in the other hand although it does not have DV it is a fine and relliable (2 months of use so far) player.

I had the same thoughts on the Xbox one s. Any reason not to go that route?

Depends on how often you planned to watch 4k movies. if you buy 4k movies often and watch then a dedicated player is the way to go for better experience.

I got samsung 4k player last BF & i was debating the same. Based on my usage i think it would be better for me if i had brought an Xbox one S so i could have used it for both the purpose.

Will Xbox One X 4k Ultra BluRay player be just as good or fall short in some ways? I'm also wondering if the Ultra 4K BluRay drives for PC used w/ PowerDVD are any good.

Also can I use this with my 4K computer monitor with DP and HDMI 1.4, no HDR?
