I've had one of these (earlier model) for years now and I love it. I had previously been using mechanical white noise machines that would always develop a rattle after a few months, then not respond well to cleaning; the electric ones now sound just as good--maybe better--and pretty much never break unless you do something really weird to it.

If you haven't tried white noise for sleep before, grab one of the free apps and give it a try. It can be a game changer for a lot of sleep interruption problems that you might not even know about.

These can also be used as privacy screens in places where you don't want conversations being overheard through a wall or door.

These are good, non-looping noise devices. I have a lectro mini that I've used ever since my table fan burned out. I always hated the idea of using white noise to help me sleep, but it became necessary after two kids and their monitors.

I just bought one of these off amazon last week for $50 (grumble) but I love it! The white noise doesn't "seem" as loud as the fan options on it, but it's amazingly great at filtering out background noise while not "listening" to anything like nature stuff. And it's a small box, smaller than I expected. But I'm quite happy with it even at the price I just paid.

Isn't white noise nasty compared to brown noise?

These work great, but the power button is too small and hard to get too. I used to always hit the wrong button trying to turn it off and would change the sound instead. I got one of those power strips with a big power button on a wire to use. Works great with this.

White or Pink or Brown Noise. I had never heard of them before.

I have had both and much prefer the Lectrofan. Must more consistent, louder, and does not change as it gets older.

I have this LectroFan and 2X of the Marpac Dohm. I much prefer the mechanical sound of the Marpac, however the Marpac is prone to rattling noises.

My older Marpac unit performs flawlessly (4-5 years old, black model). My newer Marpac unit is awful and has rattled for months. I'm currently going through the RMA process with Marpac so I'll try to report back how it goes for this newer, white model which is less than a year old.

Really, either unit is so much better than not having one... if I hadn't ever owned a Marpac, I'd probably be 100% content with my LectroFan, but the Marpac is superior as long as it isn't rattling.

I also have an older Marpac and the Lectrofan running at the same time. My Marpac is sitting on a short metal file cabinet which resonates from the mechanical fan moving making it louder. I also have a loud fan. I had to quit using it because it moves too much cold air in the winter. That causes my heat to run too much which causes me to sweat resulting in less sleep. I prefer the fan first, the Marpac and then the Lectrofan. The Lectrofan can be louder than the Marpac though.
