I️ have a first gen Chromecast. All I️ do is cast my Chrome browser to my TV. Will I️ notice an improvement buying a new model? Thanks in advance.

Just got the new one to stream YouTube tv and much faster. Got it free for using the new tv service for a month, and I'm keeping the service and cancelled cable.

The first gen has lot of connection issues especially with YouTube. How is it in the 2nd gen? However, I love the idea that I can use my phone as a remote. Makes typing so much simpler compared to the remote.

I only have the Ultra so I can't speak for the second gen specifically but my understanding is they're extremely similar minus the 4k capability. Using it with YouTube for over 100 hours has never netted me any connection issues or stuttering. My phone sometimes loses connection to the Chromecast after a few hours or if I leave the room with it, but it reconnects easily enough.
Netflix runs similarly, flawless. I do have major problems with Sling however, no matter which device I try to cast Sling with it's a poor experience I consider unwatchable. And using it with a Windows 10 laptop casting from the Chrome browser can be iffy. Generally it works but sometimes it can stutter or the audio continues working but the video freezes. It's never been bad enough I've given up on it though, and even with the problems I prefer it to the minor hassle of hooking my laptop up to HDMI.

So I use it mostly as a YouTube and Netflix device, with some occasional browser streaming. I like it enough I'll definitely be getting a second gen for the bedroom at this price.

Can I use it in my car? Just want to use screen mirroring from my phone to this Chromecast without WiFi internet.
