I think this is a deal. Last I saw specs like these, it was from Office Depot for 1499.

The one from Office Depot was with performance base. This one is the model that was released in 2016, so not such a steal.

Yea. I remember people confirming the ones they received were performance based, but I had not idea what it meant. What are the specs of performance vs regular?

The Performance Base upgraded the graphics card to the GeForce GTX965M which was a significant jump and beefed up the battery to a purported 30-40% increase. Definitely worthwhile on this machine.

This is an ok deal, but I would really expect to see this original model drop even more now that the SB2 is here and the previous Performance Base discounts. The 1060 and quad-core i7 in the 15" model blows even the performance base out of the water.

It's ok but like others have said, if it were for the PB version it would be much better.

What really doesn't make sense is right now Best Buy has the Performance Base version with an i7/8gb/256gb/965m for $2,100, yet the Surface Book 2 with the 8th gen i7/8gb/256gb/1050 is $2,000.

This is $90 more expense than the Office Depot deal and doesnt include the $300 performance base. Office Depot also had a 10% off discount available at the time for another $150 off. Total this deal is about $550 more expensive than the Office Depot deal.

Hard Pass.

Most likely this model is on sale to clear out inventory - as the Surface Book 2 is almost here.

13.5" is too small. After a few hours and I feel like I need a break. Waiting off for 20"+ tablets in some future. For now using 27" touchscreen monitor with M3 cpu Intel Stick. New monitor $500, used stick $200. Yeah, it is 1080p resolution but no eye strain at all. Also, easier to press smaller buttons on some poorly designed websites. If I need a cpu power over M3, I just remote desktop and continue to enjoy touchscreen with the remote desktop.
cool story bro.

That was an Intel driver issue and fixed like a month after it came out

Really? I have the 2016 version same specs with the nvidia gpu. I haven't had any issues so far, crossing fingers! What happened to yours exactly? Also were you able to use your warranty on it? 😳

Thoughts on the cheapest one? I5 with 128gb and 8gb ram? Seems like a decent deal at 780 new?
