Not good deal if you want to integrate with smart hub because it is previous generation with only bluetooth, you will need connect another 70 bucks to add wifi.

Instead you can buy latest August 3rd generation which comes with ZWAVE built in for 229, No need for connect burning electricity.

The August website has the Smart Lock Pro that comes with the Connect for $279. It doesn't give you the option to buy only the Smart Lock Pro. If Z-Wave was all you need to control it remotely, what's the point of the wifi Connect?

Did you even click on my link? it is option to buy just august pro 3rd generation for 229. I already bought one. Connect is for adding wifi, if you dont use smarthub and want to control lock remotely.

Gen 2 will be just fine for an apple home kit user (using Apple TV as a hub) correct?

No problem, I personally bought 3rd generation August which has Zwave for 209 with 20 dollar coupon. I also bought Smarthings for 49 which is around 50% off. New August lock has Zwave S2 framework built in and Smarthings will be getting S2 firmware update by end of the year.

Make sure your deadbolt is compatible or buy one which is for ex Kwikset 980 or Schlage B60N

Here is compatibilty list

Also link I posted is better for buying August 3rd generation than Amazon because of no tax.
