I'm looking for some headphones that don't leak sound. My current ones leak way too much and annoy people around me at work.

Anybody know if these leak, or know of some <$50 that are good?

Closed back means it shouldn't leak, I think right?

To clarify, these are closed back, but they are on-ear headphones, not over ear, so they don't provide the maximum seal you could get in over-ear headphones. I've tested them and at normal listening volumes, they don't leak too much sound, but you might want to look into some over ears. I love these though and am using them now. Have become my go-to for phone/laptop use.

I have this color and I agree, great pair of headphones. I read the reviews and I think most of them are by the same person. Some guy claims he bought 5 and two of them were defective with earpad issues. Mine have been fine for months of use and I don't treat them too well. Not sure what the deal is since the Amazon reviews are much more favorable.

These things sound great, look great, are super comfortable, etc.

I have these and had set up a deal alert for when they went back on sale. They are amazing at his price point for mids and highs, but they definitely have some "bump in the trunk" as far as emphasized low bass. Many people like that, so if you are one, this is a spectacular deal and you are getting $150-200 headphones for $40. For me, it was just too much over time, although I still like fhem for watching movies. I have graduated to the Fidelio X1's, but at this pricepoint I find the Philips 9500 to be more neutral.

They are very different so it's difficult to say. SHP-9500 have been $49.99 so the price difference isn't huge. 9500 are open so they leak sound and would not be the best for people at work, on public transportation, etc. These are geared more towards phone use/travel use, etc.

So I'd say if you plan on just listening at home the 9500 would be my rec, but if you need something for on the go or for both, these are great.

shp9500s will have a more open and airy sound but they do lack in bass. They start rolling off around 90-100hz from most measurement graphs I have seen. They are also over ear and very open headphones so they will leak sound.
As for the sound, if you are down with the bass, then get the m1. If you like a more spacious sound, get the shp9500s.
