Hiking Boots Zamberlan M 1025 TOFANE NW GTX® RR $320.50 shipped (list $469.95) @exxpozed.com
http://www.exxpozed.com/zamberlan...l?s=941541
Let me start by saying I don't really understand (no idea) how I'm getting this deal/price at checkout!
These made-in-Italy "Zamberlan" brand very high quality hiking boots are at least $400-$450 in USA. (most typically $450)
Here's the Amazon link for comparison [amazon.com]
Amazon verified purchase reviews [amazon.com]

But if you go to http://www.exxpozed.com/ (in Germany I think) and put them in your cart right now, the price shows as $394.68.
First column says: "Price (Retail Price) $394.68"
Second column says: "Promotion You save $33.17. Offer of the Day"
Third column (very oddly) says "Your price $298.49"

They seem to all price out the same, but here's exactly what's in my cart, so you can perform an apples-to-apples duplication of what I'm seeing.

Zamberlan M 1025 TOFANE NW GTX® RR
Color Waxed Brick
Size EU 45.5 / UK 10.5-11 / US 11
$394.68
You save $33.17.
Offer of the Day $298.49
1 $298.49
Subtotal $298.49
Shipping & Handling (Shipping Costs - Standard) $22.01
included tax $0.00
Grand Total $320.50
Total amount in EURO €275.21

Then I fill in all my information including location as "US" (I provide all except CC info, because I "would use" PayPal at this step)
Then it takes me to the next/final screen before going to PayPal.

The reason I have not completed the purchase is because the sizes are not exactly right for me. I need a size US 10.5
But if you notice, their only larger available sizes are mostly half-sizes in Euro format, which apparently skip right over size 10.5 US. But for shoes this expensive, I definitely want/need a perfect fit. Beware of the weird sizes.

The bottom line is this: If you can really complete this transaction in the correct size shoe you want, you'll be saving a bunch over any other price you can find on these particular shoes.

These shoes (the whole brand) have a stellar reputation. These are serious Italian shoes. This deal post will be huge, but now I'll post their descriptive details:

I went ahead and bought a pair. It was just too good a price to pass up. I usually wear 10.5, and sometimes 11. But I just ordered size 11 sight unseen because it was all they had. I'll try them on and if they don't fit perfectly I'm confident I can sell them on eBay or to a friend to break even.

Thanks, OP. Don't often see this category come up on SD. How do these boots compare with Hanwag? They're the only high-end hiking boot im familiar with.

The truth is I honestly don't know. I'm new to this. But in my blitz research the last couple weeks (and I go kinda crazy reading things) I had found so much glowing praise of Zamberlan brand, and this model in particular, that I've grown confident that they are legitimate high-end Italian hiking boots that are sure to please me.
...people saying things like "most comfortable shoes I've ever owned", etc. (about a hiking boot!)
I also found no dissenters. It seems everyone (many internet threads I've been reading where people directly compare top/favorite hiking boot brands) agrees they are a great shoe and a worthy peer of the best brands. And I loved the look. So from that point on I just focused on getting a great price.
What caused me to make the jump today is that I'm so confident of the price. I know if they aren't a perfect fit I can easily break even selling them. That's all the insurance I needed to take a chance buying them sight-unseen from Germany. I checked eBay too, to make sure if I do have to list mine they will be far-and-away the cheapest listed pair at what I paid. ($320) I'll only ask for a break-even price if I sell them.

How are these compared to Salomon? I see Salomon Quest 4D 2 GTX for $60 in REI local garage sales in very good condition. Is it worth paying 5x?

If the shoe fits, wear it! I have very little confidence that you would be able to notice a difference after 15mi of hiking between a Salomon or this Zamberlan, assuming both fit you like a glove. I can't knock a high end hiking boot like this, I'm sure it wears like a dream and as long as the owner can justify the price it's worth it. However, I've been the $60 slightly used condition Salomon kind of guy my whole life and never had an issue. That being said, there's a remarkable difference between a great boot like a Salomon versus a $25 walmart pair of hikers, don't get me wrong.

Difference is these will last more than a few years. I've put new soles on my zamberlans.

I have very high confidence the difference would be easily recognized, but may not be what you need/want. I have the Tofanes, and they are easily the best boots I have owned (coming from Garmont, Salomon, and Vasque). It is hard to compare the two as they fall under different classes (imo). While they are both Gore-tex equipped, the Zamberlans have solid 2.8mm leather with Vibram welted soles, where the Salomons are suede/nylon with glued Contragrip soles. The Salomons are pitched as being light and nimble, which I guarantee you will not find the Zamberlans to be.

I bought mine (for a similar price) as a buy-it-for-life/my last hiking boot purchase, and have no doubt it will meet that requirement. The fit is incredible - supremely comfortable (seriously, like a nice pair of gloves), the craftsmanship is top-flight - there's a video on how they make them on the interwebs, and even though they are heavy-duty/stiff, they walk easily.

If anyone wants to know more about them, pm me, and I'll be happy to share comments, pics, etc. Really a great boot.

Applause congrats on being the first TC'ing dbag (or is that "drtbag"?)! well done.

if my $300 boots last me 10+ years, it becomes an easy decision for me.
