Insignia Wifi/Bluetooth Smart speaker [bestbuy.com] with built in Google Assistant and Chromecast
$30 off, original $99.99

Voice controlled by Google
Displays Time and Temperature (on/off and brightness controllable)
Physical Control Buttons, including mic on/off
Proximity controls (such as hand wave) for illumination and snooze
USB power out 1A for charging devices
Speakers: 2
Speaker wattage: 8W

Cheaper than the Google Home, but with some more features.
It's obviously more expensive than the seemingly dirt cheap Google Home minis during the black friday sales, but this has the physical buttons like a screen with time and temperature. I'm buying one to put on my nightstand, as a replacement for the Google Home Mini and digital clock that I currently have there.

New product, but looks very promising.

There is also a portable version [bestbuy.com] on sale for $89.99, that includes a battery that's lasts up to 5 hours. $60 off, original $149.99
The portable version also has 18W speakers, but no USB power out port. Though I don't think anyone is going to miss a 1A USB charging port.

Additionally, you can currently add on an Insignia Wi-Fi smart plug [bestbuy.com] for FREE. These are compatible with both Alexa and Google Assistant. There is a combo deal promotion for $15 off if you buy both the Insignia Smart Speaker and the Insignia Wi-Fi Smart Plug together. And since the smart plug is currently on sale for $15, it is essentially free. You'll see this $15 promotional offer on the right side of the product page. It's important to note, however, that after adding the items to the cart, it didn't actually take the money off like it should have. I spoke to customer service on the phone, and they put in the order for me and took $15 off for me. Here is a picture [imgur.com] of my invoice.

Prices expire November 11th, 2017. They are in the black-friday ad, but are cheaper right now than during the black friday sale.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

You sure about that? The assistant on my phone controls every device my GH does, there is essentially no difference. Why would the assistant be any less here?

That is incorrect, sir. It WILL control your other smart devices. It is compatible with all the other typical Internet of Things. WeMo, SmartThings, TP-Link, etc. I've already tried it.

Not to mention - the Google Assistant on my phone will ALSO control my other smart devices. It's all linked together the same way. I'm not so sure you fully understand how this stuff works.

It might not, however, do phone calls like the Google Home does. I don't think the mini does either. I've never tried it on anything.

I haven't fully tested it, but I'd say its on par if not better than the Home.

Nope, no aux, unfortunately.

Yes, I believe so.

Thats what I thought. I'm glad to finally start seeing other manufacturers putting Google assistant into their devices. And chromecast/bluetooth is an added bonus.

Yup, my thinking as well. I still have minis in other places because of how cheap they are, but only in spots where I don't care as much about the speaker or the digital clock. Can't get past how cheap the mini's are on these black friday deals. But this device definitely reduces the things you'll need to have out in the bedroom. With Googles record, I expect this is what they want. They arent so much looking for groundbreaking hardware, but to spur it and get their software on others devices. So I see more stuff like this coming out in the future, too.

It's no sonos, but the price reflects that. It just comes across, to me, as a superior Google Home for a cheaper price.

Just purchased this on a whim visiting my Local Best Buy. Unit seems very promising and has a lot of useful features. Sits on my nightstand seemingly out of the way.

So this has all the functionality of a regular Google Home? I was thinking about getting the mini for the bedroom but this might be better since it has a clock.

How good is the quality of the speaker? In between the Home and Mini?

Just a quick question, does this have all the functionality that Google Home has? I mean I'm new the whole home automation thing. I recently purchased the Philips Hue lights and also some smart wifi plugs. I've not yet purchased a google home and was waiting for some BF deals on it. Can the google assistant on this connect to the smart plugs and Hue bulbs/hub?

Again, I'm sorry for noobish question, I'm new to this.

From the specs on best buy page- it supports all the same IoT platforms as normal google home. One thing it doesn't do is allow you to make calls to other google home devices. Other than that- it is identical to Home.
