Lol that sounds about right, but there are too many 9500ix fanboys that escort is exploiting right now

Just no. DFR7 was as low as $250, and even now it's $275 with no sales tax. I had both (actually still own LRD950 running DFR7 firmware) and 9500ix is not comparable: slow, relatively poor range, but, worst of all, falses a lot making it very annoying. Thankfully, as someone mentioned, a lot of 9500ix fanboys out there, so it was an easy sale on craigslist.

Discontinued model. I dumped mine after a few years for the new X80. Nearly same price and live is built in. On the previous model it only "knew" of about half the red light cameras.

Uniden R1 is much better for only $20 more. The R1 and R3 are the best detectors you can get at any price point right now. Very happy with my R1.

The 9500ix was a groundbreaking detector ten years ago when it launched, but it's shameful and damaging to the brand that Escort is still selling this tired model. I shake my head every time I see palettes of these things at Costco and think of the poor suckers who think they're buying something worth $300.

I used Bel/Escort products for almost 30 years and it's sad to see where the company is today. The good news is that Uniden is back in the game and kicking ass. Buy a DFR7 or R1 for the same price as the OP and you'll be a happy camper with a modern product that's worth every penny.

If you want one you are better off getting it used on Ebay. This detector is old. You have to turn on TSR or it will go off every time you are near a car with BSM.

It has gps lockout for false alerts which the R1 does not have. R3 is a better comparison and it has a much better range than the Escort.

If people want to do research I would ignore Escort's forums. It's heavily censored by Escort.

Sorry OP. Firstly, not even close to a good price. Costco had it recently for $249, which wasn't the best deal ever either.

No longer a front runner (as almost everyone here has stated). I owned this and wife still has one. Now I use DFR7. Can't justify the upgrade to R3 so soon, but hoping it does somewhat better at false avoidance than the DFR7*.

The only drawback which may not be the detectors fault (other than its no Auto mode design), is my K falsing experience.
*No doubt that is related to me running the DFR7 in Hwy mode. I drive a 50/50 mix. No Auto Hwy/Cty mode, like there is on the 9500ix. That spoiled me, as well as auto lockouts of stationary falses.

Once Escort's patent expires on the auto lockouts (I believe in 2020), that should be made available on other brands than Escort. My guess is that unless there is some sale on R3 to entice me, I will stick with the DFR7 until then. The R3 is at a fair price and if I was still using the 9500ix, the R3 would be the upgrade for me.

PS Do not make the error of buying the new Escort S75G, which is virtually the same detector as the 9500ix.

The DFR7 has been as low as $219 at Costco recently too. https://slickdeals.net/f/10565720-costco-com-uniden-dfr7-long-range-radar-detector-219-99-9-15-17-9-24-17-free-shipping?p=104802672#post104802672
