I think you can better than $238. Probably 200 or less is reasonable for 1080p in that size. For example Target has a 40'' Element brand smart TV for 179. It might be a door buster deal but there will probably be other similar deals.

FYI the Target deal was in their black Friday ad.

I'm sure there will be some better prices on similar size TVs during black Friday, the question is how many will be available and will you want to invest the time to try and grab one.

I personally would stay away from Element, I'd trust Vizio WAY more than them for quality. That Vizio is apparently a full-array backlit model as well, so the picture quality should be good. Also from what I've heard Vizio's Customer Service is pretty good if you do run into issues.

I don't know what model number the Element from Target is, if it's the one they have for $250 right now it's got mixed reviews and some clear quality control issues.

Of course this is all just my personal opinion/preference, I feel that spending that extra cash will get you a more quality product.

Best buy also has some good deals. Two more options to look at, compare the specs and read the reviews before making any decisions. Remember you can add smart capabilities for 20-30 bucks with a Chromecast or Firestick if you buy one on sale.

I got a Vizio, 40 inch 1080p non-smart, for ~170 last year which is why I think you can save a few bucks if you really want to. Use a good credit card to get price protection and extended warranty. Best of luck.
