Good price for a popular, awesome speaker, but the original Onyx Studio is now, what, 4 generations old? If these are refurbs, how many "miles" have these been "driven" since they were new?

What's the general consensus on what was the best Onyx version 1,2,3 or 4?

If I remember, 1 had the best sound, but no aux input, 2 was really good sound with aux input, and I haven't heard much about 3 and 4, I think because I don't see them going on sale/closeout like the 1st and 2nd gen speakers.

Onyx 3 is the same as 2, but with the ability to connect and sync 2 of the speakers wirelessly.

(Note, this doesn't create Stereo sound, just two Mono sources).

I have 2 if the Mini version (connected via bluetooth to an Echo Dot) and this sync feature works very well and has a longer range than I would have expected. The mini ones have darn good sound quality for their size, but if I had to do it over, I would have put the money towards getting two of the Onyx 3 version instead.

I have both, the Onyx Studio 2 and two of the minis. Obviously the Studio 2 has better sound, but when size and weight matter (like taking with you on vacation, etc.) the mini is perfect! I did buy a case for the Studio 2 on Amazon, and highly recommend it if you have or are getting the full size Onyx. The mini fits in my Everki laptop bag and weighs very little.

I own the Onyx Studio 2. Word of advice to anyone not familiar with this product:

Pros:
Great sound fidelity, good bass response.
Reasonably loud. Not "party loud", but enough to fill a medium size room.
Well-made (with exception noted below)

Cons:
Battery life isn't great (3-4 hours YMMV).
Legs are notoriously weak. If you don't pay attention, you can easily break them.
Odd saucer shape with protruding legs makes it difficult to carry.

I have the 2 and 3. Sound quality was pretty close. Personally I thought the 2 sounded a little better to the low end and the 3 was better in the mid to high end. I mainly use them to pair with Alexa. They have been fantastic for that. But for that reason I can't speak to the battery life. I believe I paid $80 for the 2 and $95 for the 3.

IMHO based on how old it is, this should be price for Studio 3, or Studio 2 at the very least. I own the Studio 2 and sound quality is better than my LG 4.1 sound bar.

totally worth it. i got the 2 around the same price.

its portable around the house and back yard, but i wouldn't take it to the beach or the office too much. its almost the size of a basketball.

I purchased this refurb about a year ago from HK and it's an amazing sounding speaker. I leave it plugged in and on 24/7 connected to an Alexa Dot... It has on two occasions started sounding muffled and staticky but powering it off and back on seemed to fix the problem. I'm concerned with the longevity of this refurb speaker.

List price is a joke on these. Pure marketing tactic lol.

These are great for Semi-fixed positions with great sound quality. Much better options out there for outdoor activities or moving about.
