OP please add that these is a Gray market import model and Nikon will not service it in USA (even if you're ready to pay for it).

For whomever interested in this, I suppose it's the comparison between new gray market vs refurbished authorized (from BuyDig), and 1 month return (via ebay) vs 3 months warranty from Nikon.
Personally, I feel the 1-year warranty for new camera is not very useful. If it works for a month, it will probably last for a year too. Lens warranty is more attractive with 5 years. But if the price is right (say, 50% off new), I'd buy it.
Now, let's wait til its $500+ Smilie

even for a grey market camera, it's a good price.

Do you think it's worth having the deal? I thought lens selection was decent or should I go body only route and but lens separately?

I like the AF-P lenses. But for the 70-300mm, you will want to the one with VR. After that, depending on what you want to do, add a 35mm f1.8, and a 10-20 for wide angle. That will be a very decent low budget set. Actually I think no other brand has better set than this: good quality, low price, small and light weight.
If you want to save a bit more money, go with D3300/D3400. I don't have D5500 or D5600, but I don't see the value in them for the extra money.

Be careful with gray market. Even with that warranty, Nikon USA will not repair them from what I have read. Plus, the parts are generally not as good. It may last you a year, but don't expect the life you would get out of one made in the US.

I wound up with the buydig refurb and it only had a shutter count of 1400. I feel much more comfortable with that then some import model.

I'm not sure who of the major camera brands makes in the USA....none that I know of....the factories are usually in japan, Thailand, Vietnam or china. "grey" market cameras are the exact same cameras made with all those other cameras in those factories that enter the US that you buy at the well known authorized dealers. they are the same item....exactly.... The only difference is they didn't come through the Nikon USA or Canon USA supply chain (or whatever company it is), which makes them ineligible for service and support, which are built into the higher prices you would pay for "legitimate" items.

that article refers to Canon but it's true of Nikon and the other brands as well. There is plenty of information about it.

I buy refurbished cameras, myself, and have never had a problem with them.

If it is an US authorized Nikon dealer, then warranty will be honored.
