The last time this went on sale a few months ago, the consensus seemed to be it's useful as either:

1. A phone on the service it is locked to (Family Mobile).
2. An iPod on WiFi only.
3. As a trade-in for something better.

The days of easy/cheap iPhone unlocking are over.

To clarify, when it is an "iPod on WiFi only", does it have access to iTunes store to download games/applications?

Thanks in advance.

The iPhone will be like an iPhone without service. It will still have access to all the apps and information stored on the phone, You would also be able to use the phone to access iTunes.

Wow thanks so makes no sense to get a way more expensive ipod touch since this has same screensize but better processor and camera which is what I want to use it for mainly!

Yup. This is an awesome device for this price range, as long you aren't a stickler for bigger screens on phones. iOS 11 runs butter-smooth on it too.

I got it for around $130 not too long ago. It's even better at around $100.

I'm used to a 32" 4K display I use at home most of the time so all phone screens are small to me LOL. Not much diff to me from 4" to 6" or whatever. Just gonna use it for camera, livestreaming, geotagging locations when I'm outside taking pics with my real DSLR camera that doesn't have GPS. And the 4K video which my DSLR doesn't do either. Besides it will be light years ahead of the old ipod touch it's going to be replacing and I remember paying over $200 for that years ago laugh out loud

Good points!

One quick note, aside from the screen, the front camera is the only thing on the iPhone SE that isn't on an equal level with the 6s spec-wise. 5MP for the 6s vs. 1.2MP for the SE (different sensors too). That might not be much of an issue for many people since front cam dependent apps usually downsample files anyway.

The rear cam is identical though. Since you're a photog, I'm guessing that's a lot more relevant to your usage.

Any idea when this will go on sale? It was out of stock most of the day yesterday, and I haven't seen the price change on anything but the gold (that's sold out).
