Will take a tiny bit of work, currently, the seat is on sale on playseat's website for 216, however you will have to pay shipping which is about 33 bucks
http://www.playseatstore.com/challenge.html

you can price match it to BH, they dont have it in stock, so if you can't wait, then you can pay the shipping. otherwise you can get this seat for 216 shipped!

Still holding out for the Alcantara. Those other models never go on sale!

The first thought everyone has is that it looks like a lawn chair...

Tbh it is a fancy lawn chair but it's solid for a racing sim setup. I bought it last time it went on sale and don't regret it. You can even check out the reviews for it on youtube where most people would vouch for it. However I wouldn't feel comfortable paying more than 250 for it.

If you're just entering sim racing, I'd suggest it.

It's worth 8/10th of a second shaved off your best lap time. That's priceless!

I just splurged on a G29. Is this the minimum cost to get a decent seat & mount?

my best lap time is 1 ms which equates to 0.98 ms equals about 1 cent the total value of this product.

I've owned a Playseat Evolution for about 8 years and love it. I've seen this Challenge model online before (not in person though), but I just can't imagine that it's a similar experience. However, I just looked at the price of the Evolution these days, so I can see why people might go for this. But then I checked Ebay and found two somewhat recent Sold listings for the Evolution at or below the $216 cost of this Challenge seat.
Mostly they're Local Pickup, but this one [ebay.com] sold for $208 shipped after 14 bids, plus it had the shifter mount, a $45 option [playseatstore.com].
This one [ebay.com] seems to have sold for only $200 with local pickup in Mission Viejo, CA, and also included the shifter mount, AND included a Logitech wheel. That was a crazy-good deal.
And here's the Alcantara one [ebay.com] RyanR is holding out for at $245 Local Pickup, but it has the seat slider option, which seems to be worth about $50.
So if it were me and I was limited to about $200 I'd be looking at the used market (Ebay, Craigslist) for an Evolution over this Challenge. I'm not bashing the Challenge, but for the same money, when people see it do you want them thinking "$50 lawn chair" or "how awesome is that!" Just my 2 cents.

Agreed. The Playseat Challenge is "fine" but if you're dropping this kind of coin into your first sim rig, do yourself a favor and get a 2nd-hand unit that is bigger/beefier and offers easier mounting for other accessories (good pedals, shifter, keyboard, monitor, etc.... assuming you have the room. The nice thing about this one is that it folds up and won't take up a whole room. But a nicer rig really helps with immersion and will improve your lap times.

If possible, find one of these bad boys on the 'Bay:

For the money, this seat is comfy, rock solid, light and versatile. But it doesn't fold up. This guy is in the UK and asking 3x too much, but if you can score one, you won't regret it:

I don't think they make a shifter mount for the Challenge? Let me know if you find it and a link. I'm not crazy about any of the DIY solutions on YouTube that tends to make the whole thing less portable to mount my TH8 shifter.

So after owning several Playseats and bigger rigs, due to my new lifestyle (aka baby) I had to downsize my rig. I've always dismissed the Playseat Challenge like the rest of you until I looked at several reviews on YouTube and decided to go get one at local Micro Center for $200 (+tax and -$5 coupon). I have a 5 months old baby I picked up from daycare afterwards, got home, put her to sleep, and I had about 1.5hrs before wife came home. I had setup the seat and mounted the T300RS Alcantara on it under 30min including taking my time and unpacking all. I got about an hour playtime on GT Sport. THIS SEAT IS WORTH IT. Very stable surprisingly and very well design (I've had two diff Playseats before and they were all designed well to an extent). After I was done playing, it folded up very flat and I was able to tuck it into a small closet under 5min. My two other friends with wives and kids bought the same rig and we all finally get to spend some time racing where it would have been impossible to lug a big rig into the living room. This item serves a very necessary niche market LMAO
