if you want to break even after a year.... yes.

Yeah, $ rate on my 1080 and 1070's dropped like %15-20 in August, but has been pretty stable since then and still pretty good. Single 1070 makes $40-45 per month (after subtracting electrical costs).

So first off... I seriously hate when people talk about stocks or currency value in the context of plus or minus X amount dollars. Becase in this case $1000 is about 15% and to put it in perspective, go back one year and take a look at bitcoins price of $700 and now look at the price after the OMG!!! $1000! DROP! of $6500.

Next. It dropped for a reason, people were pumping money in because there was going to be hard fork, the hard fork is canceled. (during a hard fork you get old and new version of bitcoin, hence people wanted to get that and put money into it). This was an expected drop.

Lastly... you don't even mine bitcoin on video cards.

Almost bought this. I was going to wait to open and see if there was a better deal for BF but then noticed extended return period isn't good for this item. It appears that this is true for all graphics cards.

What is the main difference between the FTW card and the SC card? Planning on getting one or the other Smilie
Higher factory clock, bigger heatsink and fans, and dual bios.

sure about the heastink and fans?
afaik sc and ftw both use acx 3.0 cooler. SC black comes without a backplate tho.
imo the difference is the higher no. of power phases (10+2), dual bios and higher power limit (8pin + 6pin). All might help to achieve better overclockability.

Not anymore, graphic cards are no longer useful for mining. They are stsrting to flood the ebay market with used ones because of this
GPUs are still good for mining. Not BTC or LTC but there are dozens of alt coins that still turn a profit. It's not a 4-5 month roi anymore but still within a year

It went up a ton in the past few weeks in anticipation of the segwit2x fork, it dropped because that was called off.

I went ahead and bought it. I've never shopped for a video card during BF so I'm not really sure what to expect, but between the comments here and on the r/buildapcsales thread this seems like a really good buy.
