Not the best FaR item but if you're looking for a SATA cable you can't beat free.

Not free, cost of stamp, envelope, paper, toner/ink, personal time. Sometimes not worth the hassle for the savings.

Hassle? The paper is basically free (stock up when it's 1 cent for 750 sheets). Stamp is half a buck. Envelope is a couple cents. Pennies' worth of generic toner. All office supplies kept at computer desk.

Rebate filled out online immediately after shipping in under 30 seconds, and printed out. Item arrives: put UPC in envelope with form, drop in mailbox on way out the door the next day. Done.

All send and done, about 65 cents worth of material and 60-75 seconds worth of time to file the rebate.

Whether it's worth it to you or not is all a matter of preference I suppose, but to call it a "hassle" is a bit of an exaggeration

Pretty sure the actual value of the cable is worth less than 65 cents you're spending. Go on ebay and get a pack of them for less than a dollar shipped. It's not even sata 3, so only useful if you are going to use it on an old hdd.

I agree with you that you can get one cheaper on Ebay. Nevertheless, there is no difference in performance between cables meant for SATA 3 and SATA 2 according to this [pugetsystems.com].

Sata 3 only matters when you have something that can fully saturate that speed like a good SSD.

You fill out the form online but then have to print the form out, attach upc to form, sign form, print invoice and send in all. Not worth it when only one cheap item like this.
