This is actually a deal. Look at these people voting down for no reason.

I personally ordered the 3300 model from Amazon. If I had saw this deal sooner I would've grabbed it as it is as actually 10% off.

It's not specific to the Book 2, it's Microsoft's general 10% off for Students and Military on pretty much anything. Also applies to teachers.

Cause this is the standard Microsoft 10% student/teacher/military discount

If the i5 model is a 8th gen, I'd buy it right away. Otherwise, for $1300 I can get the new Dell xps 13 that has 8th gen and i7, 16gb RAM and 512gb ssd from Costco.

As far as I can tell, this is the best price available for the MS Surface Book 2 today.

I placed my order yesterday for a base version yesterday and it already shipped. I went back and forth between this and a Macbook Pro.

Compared to the Macbook line (right now), this series is very competitive. I almost bought the i7 version, but even considering the newer processor, quad core, and GPU, I felt the base version was the best value for me with the $450 price difference.

Compared to Macbook:
- base is slightly better version of the i5 versus the current base on Macbook, all other versions have benefit of 8th gen, quad core, and GPU
- Bonus- touch, removable tablet, similar build quality
- Macbook was more expensive, unless I wanted an older version. I believe MS offers a better value

Compared to other Windows Notebooks:
- Traditional Dell XPS is tempting option, but lacks 2 n 1 capability, or ability to use as a tablet.
- Other 2 n 1's, didn't find anything else that matched the battery life and the 2 for 1 laptop & tablet functionality. I also think this is a better deal versus other Surface options, even if the price is higher (build quality, specs, etc.).
