I have one of the old version 3-person tent from MSR. My wife and I used it for a three-month cross country camp trip. I have to vote for it and MSR. Among the several tents I owned the last 7 years from most major brands, MSR really stands out. We used it in quite various weather, from extreme high wind to all-night-long summer storm, it never failed us in 5 years. I'm still using my old one, and if I have to replace it someday, I'll still go for another MSR for the most reliability. Hope it helps man.

I can't speak for this tent but MSR is a great company.

I have a north face triarch tent which has served me well for many years but is coming to it's end. Can anyone provide a comparison to this tent?

I also have an old nemo tent that's pretty great. so a comparison of this company to north face or nemo would really help inform my decision.

Or does anyone have it and can describe the build quality, material quality, and design?

If you want a 3p tent for the space look at the Marmot Limelight. There is a lot more headspace, and with the footprint its only about 6 ounces heavier.

This is a top notch 3p tent though. If you're a UL nut then you're probably getting something smaller and/or not freestanding.

This won't last long. Don't own but know many who do. Great deal on a solid backpackers tent.

Im leaning towards the $260 Big Agnes Krumholtz UL 2 GZ mtnGLO Tent deal. Weighs less, cool tech, $600+ retail. On REI w extra 20% off.

If anyone is on the fence, just know that MSR is one of the best companies out there for equipment. You usually pay a premium for their product.
