Here's a pretty good summery from an Amazon reviewer of what Hourly History books are:
Quote from Amazon Reviewer :
Among those 1500 Amazon books on the Titanic is "Titanic: The Story of the Unsinkable Ship," which is part of a digital publishing effort called Hourly History. This company, using uncredited individual authors, has published several dozen histories and biographies, all about 50 pages long, on Amazon. The company's goal, according to their website, is to give readers a good fundamental overview of various topics in an easily digestible book that can be read in an hour. In the case of "Titanic," their target audience would probably be people whose knowledge of the ship is at best the result of seeing James Cameron's movie and at worse, could be summed up in a single paragraph. And, while there are certainly many excellent (and considerably longer) books about the Titanic readily available, such as Walter Lord's classic "A Night to Remember," many people simply don't want to invest the time to finish a detailed account of the ship, but want more than they can glean from a Wikipedia article.

Absolutely brutal, thanks for the head's up.

Curiosity overtook, so I went through and grabbed quite a few on topics of interest. However, once I hit about page 5, the list price jumped to $2.99. [EDIT: Upon further reflection, the link is arranged by price: low to high, page 5 starts the $2.99 selection.]

Be careful, I was carelessly using 'Buy Now with 1-Click' and bought a couple until I realized the price changed.

I picked up a few. I wish there was a way to mass buy a bunch instead of going to each individual book. I'll take all the free ones, gimme.

They know what they're doing... Eventually they know we're going to zone out at purchase something when we put our minds on autopilot

This is great. Sometimes I just want a better understanding of a subject but I don't want to take a course on it. Some of these will be a very nice read for me.

Now I have a question. How are these better than just random articles on reputable websites?
