So if I do SS then it's no longer an Add-on item, correct?

I know this is for carpet and upholstery but I need to get some packing tape residue that's been on the outside of a car door for several years and has proven to be really hard to get off. I've tried Goo Gone but it's not enough, I need something to help completely dissolve and remove the tape. If I apply Goo Gone and wait a few minutes for it to do its thing, can I use this brush to do the rest? I realize that it'll probably ruin the topcoat, but that's going to be hard to avoid no matter what I do. Or are there other brush heads better-suited for that?
