Agreed. I wasn't really thinking about the case and PSU. PCPartPicker has a comparable PSU for $25 and I'll ballpark guess a case at $20. Sourcing their own motherboard would have pretty good savings.

Ryzen 7 1700 is $285, Ryzen 7 1800X is $400
Cheapest RX 580 is $285
DDR4 2400 is $130 for 2x8GB and $163 for 1x16GB
256GB M.2 SSD is about $100

All in all, just the CPU, GPU, and RAM is $700-$733 for that $850 model.
For the higher end, the CPU, GPU, RAM, and SSD is $915-$948 for the $1000.

550 GPU not 580. Big difference.

Can anybody tell what brand the video card is and whether it's 4GB or 8GB? I couldn't locate this information anywhere.

Description claims it's a Radeon RX 580 8GB.

Some reviews out there with pictures of the internals.

I've been buying random components the last month to put together a Ryzen gaming rig, but it's surprising to me that this outprices PCPartPicker for getting the items individually.

The motherboard, case, and power supply are dirt cheap since they make it themselves and the windows license and parts are sourced at bulk rates. Even on the dell site these go pretty cheap, so store deals will probably be cheaper due to wanting to move stock.
