Call-in: LG OLED65B7A 4K TV Brand New for $2000

Called Beach Camera customer service to check if the refurb deal on LGOLED65B7A at ebay is for refurb one or new one. I was told that ebay deal is for refurb ones only. Asked them if they can price match with the new one. Initially he said he can price match it for $2099.99 (ebay deal on new one) but i said I will pull the trigger immediately if he can give it for $2000. He said he can't. Then I told I'll wait for some time. When I was about to keep the phone he said it seems the price for Black Friday going to be $100 less, So I can reduce that $100 now itself if I purchase immediately. I bought it immediately. Hope I get PP from discover for $500.

$2,099 for me when I called. No tax, free delivery. Still a good deal for a brand new set from an authorized retailer. The 65" C7 was $2,399.

The reason this is a bit weird is that they'd claim they're gonna have a "black Friday sale" on an item they legally can't advertise for that price. (that's why you have to call to even get the $2099 price)

I wonder why is it not legal for authorized LG retailers to advertise these at lower prices?

Because their agreement to be a retailer includes not advertising any products from that company below a MAP (minimum advertised price) set by the company.

Isn't that similar to price fixing? So if a retailer wants to provide a good deal on Black Friday, they cannot even advertise it wow...

Nope.

MAP doesn't set the price they can SELL it for. At all.

Only the price they can ADVERTISE it for.

That's why folks like Beach can sell it to you over the phone for hundreds less than they can advertise it for, or Frys can sell it for hundreds less because their ad only says "Name brand OLED!" despite the fact it's obvious it's an LG since nobody else makes OLED panels (and the Sony set, which uses an LG panel, is way way more expensive)

Well, authorized retailers can't.

Other folks like ielectra, cleveland plasma, etc...(who are really just going to drop ship from an authorized retailed once you order anyway) CAN because they didn't sign any agreement with LG.

I called in Thursday and they said no to $2099 for a new unit and would only do $2149. Amazing if you were able to get a new one for $2k. Let us know if your invoice says new or refurb, was it Natan or Joseph?

Thanks for the explanation! I read up about this "UPP" and looks like this was started by Samsung in 2013 and others followed suit.

This is actually pretty interesting information. The current street price for 65B7A is $2600 and LG's website says it's valid till 11/18/17. So what's after this Saturday? A deeper BF discount on the street price? Does that mean Beach Camera's call-in price will be adjusted as well?
It sure looks like Beach Camera accidently told OP that the BF call-in price for 65B7A would be $2000. I think I will wait till Sunday to find out.
