You can buy a coupon on eBay but check the fine print. Also if you are near any state borders, check those prices too. Also check with your electric company to see if there are rebates.

Thanks! I was wondering about this one - did you buy the necessary WiFi module to use the internet functions?

I haven't purchased it. The reviews made it sound unreliable but that might be user error more than anything. I don't do enough long term out of town travel to make it worth it I don't think. If it was $30 or so I'd buy it just to fiddle with it.

Thanks Jabbit! I'll head to the store tomorrow and take a look at it.
The Home Depot Rheems are your best bet for big box water heaters.
Go by a plumbing supply place where pros shop. You can get a Bradford White or AO Smith for about the same price. Usually come with 6 year warranties and that's really all you need. These are the brands that plumbers usually install, so they tend to be better that what the big box stores carry.

Thank you Mishnah! I'll head by the shop before getting one!

Lowe's sells AO Smith now (they switched from Whirlpool). Are the AO Smith sold by Lowe's the same quality as a plumbing supply store where pros shop? Or are there different levels/grades of AO Smith, where the Lowe's version is a cheapened up version of a pro model?
