You work hard to make sure everything works like it should, and this 320-piece set mechanic's tool set from Craftsman will help you get the job done. From any project as complicated as spending the day under the hood to a task as simple as tightening bolts, you'll have the tools you need. Since no two jobs are the same, this set comes in an array of sizes and measurements so you will always have what you need on hand. That's another job done with the help of Craftsman.

Includes quick-release ratchets in 1/4-inch, 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch drives
152 sockets (6 point, 8 point and 12 point) in both inch and metric measurements
4 extension bars help extend your reach
8 combination wrenches let you slip in where the ratchet won't go
Comes with a magnetic handle with 12 nut drivers, inch and metric
96 screwdriver bits give you quick power and versatility
Comes with 40 hex keys and 4 adapters
Includes a 3-drawer case

Throw these bits [amazon.com] in there for $30 more, and you got yourself a 920 piece set.

A bag of zip ties and box of washers to push it over 1000!
I'd consider this a 184 piece set after subtracting 96 screwdriver bits and 40 hex keys. Seems like a decent set of sockets (the hex sockets might not be super useful). If you have nothing else, you'd need to get more wrenches.
Sears and Craftsman customer service are worthless nowadays. I bought a Craftsman shop vac in which the filter nut was cross threaded from the factory. All I wanted was a replacement nut (a readily available part), but they passed me around like 4 times and just told me to ship the whole thing back, which would be a big waste of time and money. It's all outsourced to foreign countries and they just follow scripts. They don't actually use problem solving skills.

This is a nice set but has many tools that will never be used... like all those driver bits. Good gift for someone with no tools.

not even. anyone with a little bit of experience will toss the wide tooth ratchets, 12 pt sockets, not use at least half the sockets, never use 8 pt sockets(are there such a thing?), never use 3/4 of the hex keys, never use more than 90% of the screwdriver bits, and even then, will want REAL screwdrivers, still need pliers, cutters, yada, yada. maybe nice to look at, but not much real use

Yes, they are. I returned mine because of this and because it was missing 3 sockets that Sears wouldn't give me. They said I had to call craftsman, who offered a small discount on the whole set, but wouln't just send me the missing sockets.

Repped for accuracy.

This is a trash "320" pc set if you own the basics.

Bought the "90" piece recently for $40 which was a decent deal for a short car/truck set.

I had this kit for about 10 years before all the parts rusted out from abuse. Every few years I had to replace the ratchets for free and some extentions snaped but I am abusive with tools. I recently picked up the 302 PC harbor freight set and the ratchets are so much better and everything else seems to be as good of quality except the wrenches are garbage but it has many more useful tools in it. If their is a harbor freight around I would go with that set

Agreed. I have the same Craftsman kit from about 10 years ago. Recently switched to the harbor freight kit similar to this, after losing enough pieces and parts from the Craftsman kit and enough rusting out that I decided I needed a new set. The Harbor Freight kit is actually higher quality than the Craftsman kit. Which is pretty shocking. Also as unfortunate as it may be, Harbor Freight is going to be in business longer than Craftsman. Making warranty swap outs that much easier.
