The 8gb is 1,150 on amazon right now, and the type cover is another $90.

That bundle isn't available at the moment. It will probably be a holiday special. The SP2017 i5/8GB/256GB is $1299 at the Microsoft Store today. The colored Type Covers are $159 today, but I've seen the black on sale for as little as $99. My guess is they will call the "regular price" $1399 or $1429, and you get $329 off of that for either $1070 or $1100.

You can also get $229 off on the of the SP2017 i5/4GB/128GB bundle [windows.com]. Regular price on that unit is $999, so I'd guess the bundle at $1099, and then the $229 off gets you $870. That would be a pretty sweet deal considering that the Core M3 (tablet only, no keyboard) lists at $799.

Regarding the Core M3, Best Buy currently has it listed for Black Friday in a keyboard bundle for $629, a "$370 discount" from BBuy's list price for the bundle at $999. That bundle price is well out of whack though since list price on the Core M3 tablet only is $799, and you can buy a Type Cover for full price at $159 and come out $41 cheaper. I can only assume that the $999 price is intended to discourage people from buying it before black Friday to ensure they have stock or something.

FWIW, if you are a student/teacher/military then you can get 10% off at the Microsoft Store. I'm hoping that stacks with the sale price, so maybe the i5/8GB/256GB at $1070 - $107 = $963, less whatever they'll give me as trade in on my old tablet.

Thanks for the breakdown. I've been searching for a configuration with decent specs and based on this post, I will definitely go with the i5/8gb/256gb configuration as it seems to be the best value so far for this Black Friday.

Unfortunately, the student discount does not work on this deal
