Hi all,

I graduated nursing school after a lot of hard work, student loans and many other personal sacrifices. Unfortunately, I failed the state boards 3x's! The Nursing board rule is, if you fail 3x's, you must complete a nursing refresher course. The only course that is approved by the board in my area costs 2k!!! I am living pay to pay and simply can not afford this. I am selling some of my personal items to save up but time is running out fast as the course begins in late December. Does anyone have any ideas? This is extremely stressful. My credit score is terrible and have been turned down for credit cards and personal loans. Please share any wisdom you can send my way. I promise you all that when I finally beat that beast of an exam, I will be the most knowledgeable and caring nurse you've ever met! Thank you for reading this far.

Nelson

Sue the nursing school. They obviously didn't teach you good enough.

So are you working right now as a nurse or something else? Lots of places are hiring holiday help right now. See if the course will allow you to pay in installments or something. Do you have any family that could help out? Do you have a strict accurate budget?

Not legally if he failed the state boards 3x's. Why not move back to you parents it's that's an option to save on expenses?

You can work as a nurses aid without a license in my state at least. I was getting at if they had extra time to work another job etc.

Just my .02 here, but did you receive any feedback on what areas you scored the lowest on the exam? If so, perhaps now is the time to study hard in those areas. Further, I would suggest looking for employment in "alternative" areas that need nurse care...correctional facilities, schools, camps, 3rd shift at the elderly housing farm. You get the idea. There is a VERY HIGH demand for (adjective withheld) nursing staff so please keep at it.

bulb save money by checking your insurance every 2 years (and not every 20) Thanks Liberty Mutual for reminding me to shop. The $842 increase this year sums it up. Across the board increase for Ohio....whatever
