Yeah - I can't say for certain whether this is the same model and brand, but I've seen a lot of people commenting on these smaller USB drives saying they get really hot.

I guess I would also be reluctant to unplug and replug it often -- I feel like it would break more easily than other drives because it may be harder to grip and remove from the computer. Not sure if it would help to get a USB slot extender or something

The black part doesn't get too hot (not unbearable at least), but the metal part gets extremely hot when doing extended transfers. The metal part will absolutely burn you if you touch it after extended transfers. I'm fine with not touching it, but I worry about the life of the product with it getting that hot.

I had one of these in the back of a Wii U, since I didn't want the kids busting it off by moving the console around and the drive completely died after about 6 months. So I have shied away from these....the form factor is great, but I have started going with the aluminum Samsung flash drives that have more mass to them.

I got one of these and the write speed isn't consistent. It constantly drops to as low as 15kb per second then climbs back up and drops again. So you have to be patient for large file transfers.

Mine get extremely warm, but not too hot to remove, nor too hot to affect performance.

Man I have a regular size Sandisk Extreme 32GB USB and it does the same thing. Sometimes it will even just go down to 15kb per second and just stop there. Pretty irritating as I usually have to restart the transfer at that point and hope it doesn't do it. I always wondered what was causing it as the whole point I paid a premium was for the faster transfer speed.

It's because they didn't try to turn it off and back on.

this drive indeed very hot and it will lose connection while copying large files. i RMA'd it and got back an updated one (i believe?), it's not as hot as previous one, and seems working fine while copying large files, but it's still fairly hot tho.

I purchased this model last year and it gets super hot. transfer speeds start out at 80+ mb/s but quickly drops after 30 seconds down to 6-10 mb/s. I found out I could blow on the usb during transfer and increase the speed to around 30 mb/s.

This was on sale a month ago and it was $9.99 at Best Buy so it is a bit pricey for now
