Does anyone. Know why they make 3440 resolutions instead of 3840 which would be double 1920?

It's an ultrawide, which isn't supposed to be a double of 1920x1080, but supposed to be 21:9 aspect with higher resolution.

yes, but why (in general) do they make 3440 vs going 400 more pixels to make it essentially double width @ 3840?

3440x1440 is 21:9 and 3840x1440 would be 24:9. I guess 21:9 aspect ratio is more preferred than a 24:9 aspect ratio. There are no 24:9 monitors that I know of.

Because it's Quad HD/1440 UW not 4k/2160p the first number is the width

32:9 panel is expensive. Samsung C49HG90 is only a 1080p double width but costs much more than most 3440*1440 21:9 monitors. For a doube width 1440p monitor, it would be 2*2560 = 5120 pixels on width instead of 3840*1440 like you mentioned. That's a ton of pixels that make the panel even more expensive so that no one's gonna buy.

Are you already signed up for their mailing list for deals? It asks you to enter your email so they can verify each member is buying it only once at that price. Make sure you sign up and then try again. It just worked for me.

Using desktop chrome and it's working now. I used mobile app earlier so not sure what's the cause.
