From what I've read this is pretty much the same as the 9500ix in a different case.

No, It's not new technology but a very nice deal at $210 imho.

YMMV, but check your eBay account as I had an 8% Rewards offer today.

Waze is not all that reliable. Moving cops can't be tracked by Waze. Not only that Waze can give you false alerts if no one around updates the threat ahead. Not only that, Waze also can't warn you on new threats that appear. Then again this is ymmv on your area since not everyone may use Waze at your location.

Preferably in the left (safe) lane!

I use both because they compliment each other. Waze only helps if the police have been reported already.

Not a bad deal. BMS on so many cars has made me put the 8500 x50 in a drawer, only used for very long trips.

Then how is this a good deal when it also can't filter BSMs?

TD, because for the similar money you can get DFR7 with better filtering and better range. This is 10yr old tech.

My exact thinking! The R3 seems to be blowing everyone away. Just wish Escort didn't have a patent on the GPS auto-lock feature.

Any rumors on donut sniffers like the R3 being on sale for BF?

Turning off K band on my 9500ix helped with BSM chatter. K band sees limited use.

Is it true there are detectors that detect radar detectors? Any experience and dont law enforcement use laser detectors these days?
