Damn fine system for the money. I have 2 sets of the predecessor to these ( Logitech Z-2300's.) My Dad liked them so I attempted to get him some. These had just been released so I helped him get this set. They're a little anemic compared to the mighty boomey Z-2300, but still pretty good. Especially for this cheap price. I use one of my Z-2300 sets for my living room TV, and my dad uses his Z623 for his basement set. These are much better then most low to mid tier 2.1 soundbar systems with sub. Even if you don't want to use these with a computer, they might not be a bad way to go...

Whats the best out of these:

1.) Klipsch promedia 2.1
2.) Logitech Z623
3.) Logitech Z5300E (Used in very good condition for $40 local craigslist)

Klipsch makes some damn fine audio equipment, but I'd go with the Z5300E. Depending on condition, of course. Which might be hard to detect on craigslist...

I'm biased because I used to daily drive a Z-5500...one of the finest consumer-oriented sound systems every made IMO...

Ive had the promedias and the 5300s... and honestly id go with the promedias. The 5300s are good surround sound speakers. They pack really boomy bass that'll rattle your walls and shrill highs that dont sound tinny. That being said, the mids leave more to be desired.

The promedias offer a more true to life repoduction of music and videos. Tighter bass thats not over bearing, clear, distinct mids, and clean highs.

In the end its always going to be up to what sounds good to you and the type of media you're listening to. As for me i find myself gravitating towards the promedias, there's a reason why they havent really changed the design in over 10 years.

I have this set. Sounds pretty damn good. I think I paid 80 refurb and it has been worth every penny.

I had the Z5500 model for around 10 years until they broke. (The speakers will make a loud high pitch nose and the base will shut off). I replaced them with the Z623 for $124.49 (doesn't include tax) in 2015 on Amazon.

I miss my Z5500, I wish they would bring back a new, improved, modern version. I prefer the Z623 now though. I believe this is a great price! These speakers won't disappoint!

I got these a couple years ago for ~$75. They're good for the money. My only complaint is the size of the smaller speakers that sit on the desk. They're pretty big. The cord is also extremely thick, which seems to get in the way of some things.

If it's a pure choose one situation where price isn't a factor, promedias. But sounds like it is since you included price of craigslist used gear

I'm in the market for speakers but NewEgg refurbs are junk in my experience.

I bought a refurb laptop last year and it was destroyed, heavily scratched and dented. It also failed to start the 3rd time around. Returned it and swore to never get another.

Still using my z2200. It was made to be loud. I haven't heard another logitech 2.1 that come close in volume or quality.

I have two sets of this, bought one for my dad for Christmas and Amazon accidentally sent a second set, and told me to keep it.

These things sound OK. They get pretty loud as well. Problems I would say are midrange performance and the sub is boomy and not precise. Good value for money, but not hi-fi.
