I don't think there is a twitter method to it, only if it shows in your Amex offers page. Also some people got $50 credit towards $299+ purchase as well.

Downgrading the warranty to mail-in on those is a dick move.
Still won't probably resist grabbing one from the outlet in the future.

It is quite a bit more $, but Costco has this for $1299 during their BF sale, with 4k touch display, double the RAM, and double the SSD, not to mention 4 years warranty if you use Citi card. Considering how much more you will be able to do on a laptop with a quad-core CPU, I think the extra soldered RAM is itself worthwhile.

The return policy saved me big time on this because I bought the XPS with the 7th gen chip just in late August and will be able to exchange for this one. The only thing these 8th gen machines are missing are Iris plus graphics.

I agree.. Peace I would rather pay extra couple hundreds only for 16GB RAM alone when you know it has soldered RAM n no way to upgrade..

Very. I bought this deal two weeks ago with the SD rebate and Debian (with non-free firmware) worked perfectly with all default settings.

Like me if someone has two Amex cards with the $50 or 5000 points offer and if you factor in the 10% cash back, actually this deal would come better than the recent $800 after slickdeals rebate.
