What else would you have to buy and how expensive to setup a minimal off grid setup to power 12 volt lighting and recharge electronics such as phones/laptops etc?

I see harbor freight has a 100 watt package for around the same cost but it comes with alot of additional electronics which appear to be needed here also: https://www.harborfreight.com/100...63585.html

Charge controller, batteries, mounting equipment, cabling etc. This is not a kit but does provide alot more power than the HF you referenced and this would be alot more expandable if you need it. Amazon sells these in a kit(yes the price is a rip off), so you can see what you need, though you might want to get more if you ever plan to expand:

Would it be an issue to use a few panels all from different manufactures through the same charge controller to the same battery?

I don't think this is a good deal. Usually a good deal is less than $1 per Watt. Usually the 100 Watt panels go on sale for $99 or less.

I wouldn't say HUGE. Comparable wattage panels perform within less than 1% of each other during summer months. Also most of the time you can get a better price on Poly panels. The Mono 100 watt panel on HD site is %35 more than a Poly Panel. So in most southern states a 6500 watt Poly system would cost the same as a 5000 watt Mono system and would have nearly same efficiency levels.
That would be a HUGE difference in savings on electric bill.
HOT = POLY and COLD = MONO

Mono does better in cold winters, Poly matches Mono for efficiency during hot summers and cost less. Live down south, build bigger with Poly
