This usually sells for 249 at both HiFiMan website as well as in Amazon. This is a good deal as it is one heck of a good headphone at its price point. I bought it from Amazon when the price first dropped to 249, and also bought the additional 4 years warranty for about 20 bucks to give me some peace of mind. BTW, build quality is quite good, has a comfortable fit and is not fatiguing for long listening sessions. Just note that the stock cable is rather short so some of you guys might want to invest in a longer cable depending on your audio setup.

On rtings it seems BeyerDynamic DT-990 is better, better getting since it's also cheaper.

Two very different headphones. If it's not possible for you to listen to both, then at least read as many reviews as you can to get a general consensus on the the sound signature of each one. Then consider if that sound signature fits your listening preferences. They are also two different driver technologies. The HifiMan are planar and the Beyers are dynamic. I personally have the 400i and love them. I keep wanting to buy a set of the DT-990s to try, but every review I read tells me they are on the overly bright side, to the point where some reviewers said it was fatiguing. Unless this is the type of sound you are looking for there are many other choices in the $150 range that the DT-990s go for.

Bought this about a year and a half ago for gaming for $100+ more than this. Sound is very good (albeit not earth-shattering like I imagine a high-end electrostatic headphone would be), and the build quality is so far, so good, having held up since I bought it.

This is a great price for great headphones. I have both the 400i and dt990s. Comfortwise, the 400i wins. The 990 cushions will flatten oven time. If you're into bass heavy tracks, go with the 990s but be warned that the upper frequencies can be fatiguing to some people. The 400i has a smoother sound and tighter bass. If you go with the 990s I'd recommend getting the straight cord as the coiled version is heavy.

I prefer the m1060 but this is good. Strongly suggest to then grab a tidal master membership and a meridian explorer 2 amp/dac. Cheapest path to hifi Nirvana

No, these are not wireless but I see what you're talking about.

Also, there are now multiple sellers offering at this price. Hifiman was actually offering this price yesterday. As for Ritz's prior offering, it was stated they are not an authorized seller (no manufacturer's warranty). Lastly, I own these and paired with a Schiit Loki mini they sound phenomenal, which is of course very subjective.

Amazing price for these headphones. Got a pair last year closer to the 250 price last year and use them a lot. They work with smartphones and computers. That being said they do benefit from a dac/amp. Some good cheap options are the Schiit Fulla 2 or Dragonfly black (both $100).
