I have this, bought from someone used. The headband cracked on both sides but Sony sent me a brand new replacement. I read that only the lower serial numbers had this problem. My replacements were outside of the problematic batches. I've used the replacements for about 4 months and they've been great, lvoe them. They do get warm/hot after a while though. From everything I've read, the QC35 will be more comfortable, but I do love everything else about these. Great sound (not as good as my HD598s).

This is an incredible deal. I really wanted to like these headphones, but they simply weren't as comfortable for me as the QC35s. I felt pinching on my ears almost immediately when I tried these on.

When I go to the Amazon link, it says, "There is a newer version of this item." Does anybody know if Sony has just improved this item? Is the sale version the old version?

Everyone always compares any noise cancelling headphones to Bose but I can't stand the pressurized, white noise sound they have. And the sound quality wanes over time, which seems to never get mentioned. Some of my friends who swear by Bose have even acknowledged this. Sony sound quality is superior as well and that is the consensus.

Yes there's the WH1000XM2 which provide app support that allows customisation of the noise cancelling. A really useful feature you can't manually adjust on the MDR. They also improved the material so that it breaks less often (a common problem with these), as well as improved Bluetooth connection, battery life is up to 30hrs from 20, better/smarter noise cancelling. TBH, I would recommend the B&W PX headphones as they have superior sound quality. If you're looking just for noise cancelling, the QC35's are unrivalled IMO

That doesn't work anymore and Bose will most likely cancel those orders.
