Looks like a slower processor compared to the Walmart BF deal and $80 more. Is this a good option if you want to avoid the rush?

Yes!

Its not that slower...maybe 1-2 fps in games, most games are gpu limited anyways...plus newegg is tax free so you save ~ 40-50 there so then you're only looking at like $40 to avoid the rush

Besides the processor being a generation older than the BF deal at Walmart, it's also noted as OEM in the title, so I'd question if HP would honor any warranty. It's sold and shipped by a third party seller on Newegg, so returns/exchanges could be problematic.

I would much prefer the Walmart deal if I was choosing between these two.

Well I went for it.
$579.99
Mobile order for 5% off brought it down to $551
I purchased (2) $200 and (1) $100 gc's from Groupon and Living social, which got me another $50 ($20x2 + $10).
Bought these by going to the Chase portal first for 4x points on Groupon and 3x on Living Social
Then paid the $1 with a Chase card that should theoretically give me extended warranty.
If $25 retailmenot goes through (I haven't used them before) then it's $476 shipped. No tax.

Thanks!
