Why do people buy these behemoth 17" laptops, but only with a 1060 inside? Ones this size aren't really portable, and the 1060 is a 1080p champion, but if you're going this big I feel like you'd at least want to put in some real power to the rig that should be capable cooling 1070s and 1080s.

Note: pretty decent deal on this laptop. Sometimes had for cheaper on Dell website though, especially if you use cashback websites.

I agree. I have a 1070 in mine. Fwiw the alienate amplifier can make this still relevant down the road.

Yeah that's true. The Thunderbolt port is a good inclusion on this laptop.

Not just tb3 with 4 lanes but the dedicated alienware amplifier port which works better than tb3. Smilie I have one with a 1080 in it and it's great.

Yeah 17" is a bit too big, especially if you're looking for a portable one. I'm trying to find a good deal for a 13" R3 OLED. I'll probably pair that with the amplifier. I'm going to hold off until Black Friday, hopefully a better deal comes along.

For what it's worth, there's 10% cashback right now through e bates and mr.rebates. Hopefully it stays at 10% through BF.

Also, I've been tracking the r3 13 prices at the dell outlet, and it seems that they've increased $100-$200! Maybe it's just me.

Nope. They certainly increased the prices. I track the prices there and I have found that when there is coupons or high cash back, the prices always go up. Frown
