A bit dated but a solid large chromebook. Processor is about 50% faster (14,200 Octane) than most current generation similarly priced chromebooks and a decent 15.6" 1080p screen that's easy for old farts like me to read. Can be had for cheaper refurbished but this is a good price new. I use it around the house daily.

What do you use it for? And how heavy / bulky is it?

How would this handle email, google chrome (lots of tabs at a time), excel if that's mostly all it was used for?

Also, could it handle photoshop?

TIA Applause

I use it mostly for web access (e.g. chrome). I don't remember the exact weight (should be in the description) but I think it's around 3.5lbs. Lighter than a regular laptop of the same size but definitely not svelte. I regularly have 10 or more tabs open without any issue. This has 4GB of memory which would be the limiting factor. 2GB chromebooks would handle less tabs open at a time. I doubt photoshop would work. This is supposed to eventually support Android apps so if there was a version of photoshop for Android it *might* work. You probably want to use a *real* PC for photoshop (e.g. Windows or Mac).

This is an OK deal. Costco had the 4GB / 32 GB for $269 minus $70 manufacture discount and $25 online code, which came to $174 for a better one. This was the one.

And 4 year warranty with Citicard.

It's a nice build just wish it had a faster processor (8,000 Octane score). I bought a few last year at this price and ended returning them because it's noticeably slower than my Acer CB5-571. If you care more about performance and less about looks then I would go with the 15.6 Acer.

I have one from Acer outlet on eBay. Wish the mousepad design was a bit better. you "tap" and it almost wants to "click" as well. and at least for mine, the 'tapping" is not 100% responsive. Small price to pay for a dirt cheap 1080p screen for watching streaming content.

Battery life is decent. what I mean is the battery pack itself is a great multi-cell design. It's just the 1080p screen they use is not the most energy efficient, thus you'll get maybe 4 hours of streaming time... YMMV, everyone has a different brightness setting and volume setting. Everything drains the battery right? :>

I would buy it again though for under $200 like this.

from a responsiveness stand point, while true it's quite "old", Chrome OS is still overall extremely nimble when running on "big core" CPUs vs. Atom based CPUs.

Good deal for brand new 1080p Chromebook with "big core" CPU (meaning it comes from Intel's main architecture line [Broadwell generation in this case] as opposed to the slower CPUs evolved from their low power Atom line ). SSD can be upgraded, and this can also be made to run Windows 10 with some effort and caveats. http://www.reddit.com/r/chrultrabook

The (otherwise identical) 32gb SSD model (CB5-571-C09S) is available refurbished (90 day warranty) from Acer on eBay for $178. LINK [ebay.com]
