Combine with Groupon Newegg giftcard deal:
https://slickdeals.net/f/10806819-get-a-50-newegg-gift-card-and-get-5-promotional-gift-card-for-50-and-more?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo1

I got 3x the $200 GC + $20 GC. So ended up paying $619 for it (plus whatever cashback deal there is)

Sweet deal for an ultrabook with pretty much everything on my list checked.

Similar specs for $599: http://www.microcenter.com/produc...B_Solid_St
Acer is weird. Thats the same unit as this without the backlit keyboard.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0...th=1&psc=1

Anyway both links we posted are heavier and 1.2 inches thick vs this units .74 inches thick. The difference is almost 1lb in weight but not quite. Also the battery is a higher capacity in our links. Combine that with the 80ish dollars cheaper and i feel its hard to go with the swift. Its even harder when you find the asus vivobook without the ssd or gpu is 3.6lbs and 3.4 if you swap the hdd for a ssd. Ots a smaller overall package for dimensions but the thickness is .80 so the swift wins there.

If this swift was as light as the vivo i think it would be a good deal even if its footprint was bulkier

Too bad groupon is being unpleasant. This is exactly the deal I've been looking for.

Totally different models. I imagine build quality is a huge difference, along with the quality of some of the components not specifically listed (i.e. screen, keyboard, etc.). And as you pointed out, the cheaper one is bigger and heavier.

Yep my mistake their link is for one more similar to this deal. Weird they dont call it a swift.

There is an aspire 5 thats similar to the one i linked that does not have a backlit keyboard but is same price and specs otherwise. thats what i was going on about (but not relevant to this thread or comments so egg on my face)

If you order from a mobile device there's an extra 5% off this weekend, plus extra cash back if you have a Chase freedom credit card and shop through their link.

Should I get this? Can I expect to get a better deal if I've got about 2 months to spare? I'm waiting for Coffee Lake so I don't care that much.
Newegg has extended holiday returns until january end. I'd get it if you don't think the deal will last and then if you find something else around the holidays, you can make the switch and return this. Bought mine this morning.

Questions for those who bought:
  1. Is the RAM upgradable?
  2. How difficult is it to open up the case?
  3. How's the screen brightness and color?

Thanks!

If any of you live near a microcenter, they have video cards at reasonable prices, but they can only be bought in store.
