These things are garbage. I bought them another time they were on sale. Terribly uncomfortable and the sound is dull and lifeless.
What's your comparison to? M50 are pretty reputed

ATH-M50(x) is not a bad headphone at all. It is reputable for being better than Beats *insert-product-name*.
However, that means very little when you add in Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser, AKG, ... , and even other products from Audio Technica.
That said I got the Audio Technica ATH-A900Z for $99 from Amazon.com new. It is a much better headphone than the ATH-M50(x) Wink

I liked these a lot. I got them over a year ago, and the closed headphone design of these does block out noise more than the Sony mdr 7's, but bass sounds better with the mdr's IMO. My current setup has changed a lot, but these were great for starting my journey to higher quality headphones.

They are one of the best closed headphones out there for $100-$150 price range.
I am not going to compare them with open headphones like HD600, 650, Fostex, AKG. That's why in my op i mentioned what's the the comparison to.

Audio Technica ATH-A900Z? closed.
Sennheiser Momentum (full size) ? closed.
Beyerdynamic DT770? closed.
AKG K550? closed.

All of them are better than the ATH-M50x.

Since when do people don't read a comment completely. when i say one of the best it's not the only one out there. Momentums are priced higher than $150, DT 770 Pro 80 priced higher than $150

I own momentums, dt 770s, hd 650 so I know what I am talking about. Peace.

No, I read your response.
I have seen the headphones I listed at a price under $102 (on sale).
I was comparing deal for deal, since this is SD...
For example, I got the K550 for $80 from Harman.

Just trying to say that $102 for an ATH-M50x is not an impulse buy...

Peace Rock

Smilie Agreed it's not. People who already own good headphones won't get this. But every new person who would have a budget of $100 won't be disappointed with these. But, definitely not garbage as someone else posted earlier.

Definitely not garbage. They are good headphones.
I'm assuming that Mikey got fakes, or is a troll (or both Big Grin)

The only other headphones I have are crappy earbuds, which sound even worse, but they didn't cost anywhere near $100.
