This is an entry level TV, so you will not be viewing HDR on it. If you want HDR quality, you have to pay HDR money.

HDR Pro is a marketing term from Samsung and simply means that the TV can decode HDR10 input and use software to try to fake an HDR display. Similar to how TVs use software to fake 120Hz motion on 60Hz TVs or use software to fake 10bit color gradients on 8 bit TVs or use software to fake 4k resolution on 1080p content.

Basically any TV firmware can be updated to include a Perceptual Quantizer (PQ) transfer function. That EOTF basically tells the TV how to display HDR. It basically tells your TV how to turn digital code into visible light . The TV then decodes the HDR10 media and will display it according to the EOTF, to the best of its ability. If the input says "display color X at brightness Y" but your TV is not capable of displaying that color value or brightness level, it will use software to display something as close as it can. It is basically the Tofurkey of HDR.

Yes this TV can accept a 4k HDR10 input and decode it. No, this TV does not have the technical capability to actually display HDR. It will display a software derived approximation of HDR. It will be better than nothing, but won't be anything like you would see on a high end TV that is capable of displaying HDR.

Title says HDR, but this model number (6290) does not have HDR.

Amazon's official material provided from Samsung on these models indicate it does have HDR pro

Tuesday night I was picking up my Arlo Pro's just before close and noticed a team of what seemed like overnight stockers stacking the 55" version just to the right as you enter. They were stacked 3 high and so far 2 deep in a pretty wide space. I'v never seen so many at one time. I'd have to say over a hundred.

I finally decided to get the 40" as a monitor and TV. Just all the reviews and videos about the low input lag, and the fact that it IS a HDR pro TV made me decide to take a chance, plus, the $40 gift card from the logitech deal made this a pretty sweet deal. TU. Picking up tomorrow. I'll update with my impressions of it as a monitor after i setup/calibrate everything.

If anyone needs spec.

Nice, I'd been hoping for something like this through Amazon. Got to put a couple hundred dollars of reward points and $190 in gift certificates to use in the 55" model. Thanks!

My A/V cabinet is only 33" wide. Will this TV fit into it?
Look at the specs, width of the 40" model is 36.1", so no it will not
