Lovers of electric guitars probably have more built-in brand- and price prejudices than any other consumer, but for the life of me I can't imagine that this is anything other than a piece of crap.

Squier mini. Buy it in-store and insist on a proper set up with new strings and a shimmed neck, if it needs it, to lower the action or you won't buy it. Have them ensure you get one with good intonation. Then get a Snark guitar tuner for about $10.

Not the cheapest options you can find new but within $30-40 and it'll get you a good guitar your son or daughter will not get frustrated on. If you get him an amp the idcore series by blackstar is pretty amazing for their price. Also the Boss Katana amp line is widely recommended.

These guitars go for $70 used, without the kit, just the guitar. I have bought a few low end guitar packages, just to hang on the wall, (because I like guitars), and the only one that I thought was decent, was the Sawtooth Tele replica I bought. Not only did the guitar not suck, but the amp was pretty sweet. Walmart has one (the color is surf blue I think) for under $80, which may or may not be better than this. Who knows, these are the lowest of the low end. Saying that, I bought this because I don't have an SG or a RED guitar on the wall. Just waiting for the Epi Lester to drop under $100.

I've found these guitar kits for $20 used, before. This one is ok from starter guitar standards.

It's decent for the money, but if you can afford to spend a little bit more and are just starting you can get a really great guitar for $150 or less. Epiphone G400, Fender Squire, Recording King, etc. Especially used.

Any suggestions for a decent 3/4 size guitar for an 8 year old? Mostly to use with Rocksmith.

You can find an epiphone SG used on Craigslist for about the same price. It's better than these starter ones and will last you for years.

Awesome , I can not beleive the low price of these and other brand name guitars.
They didn't have these when I got deal on an Ibenez , it was worth about $800 but was more new, and being expensive did not help me learn any faster . Also you do not want a POS that can not even be tuned, This Gibson looks like a good deal,
Here is one signed by my cousin Angus Wink , for you collectors , looks like a steal

My sawtooth is the worst guitar I own. My dean vendetta for 95$ is worlds better. It has issues with some but I got over mine b4 having to file
