NOTE - I did not add this "Udate" about MasterPass. Slickdeals edited my post and added it it. I would never add MasterPass one time discount to a deal as any new MasterPass customer can get it but others can not so in my opinion is it deceptive and I would categorize it an either "can not be duplicated" or YMMV. My apologies to those that are like minded.

Update: Now $284 when you apply promo code MPBF17 and checkout via MasterPass

An incredible value on an excellent 4K TV.
Model E55-E2 - Refurbished
*Originally* these TVs were dumb TVs with no built in tunner and a SmartCast feature that required a smart phone or tablet (Apple IOS or Google Android) to set up and use.
This lead to lots of frustration and many returns as people misunderstood what they were buying.
Last August Vizio released a firmware upgrade that made them full fledged smart TVs and sent out new more full featured remotes for free upon request.
The smart apps built into the TV are limited but cover the major ones including Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Plex, Pluto, Crackle, Haystack, and others.
Additional apps, such as Youtube, are available with the use of your smartphone or tablet. This firmware also upgraded the HDR functionality.
This set has an amazing picture. Perhaps not the best in the world, but the best you will get for two or three times the price. If you are particular then you already know this. If you have not owned a 4K set before you will be impressed.
One day only and half the day is over. Get em while you can!

ps. Probably only has a 90 day warranty (will update if someone knows for sure) so buy it on a credit card that doubles your warranty.

Replacement/Upgrade remote if yours does not come with the full featured XRT-136 remote (originally these sets were shipped with the basic XRT-132 remote).
Requires your serial number...

Nice deal... I opted for TCL with built-in Roku and am REALLY HAPPY! Fastest growing electronics brand in the North America and there's a good reason why. Great clarity & color saturation for the price.

I'm a cord cutter with an antenna for local channels, btw. You absolutely cannot beat a Roku TV for that scenario, imho, because you ditch the complicated remote and anyone of any age can use the TV as intended.

Costco and Walmart usually have great deals on new/refurbed, respectively.

.
That was indeed the set I was comparing it to.
Of course you would need a Costco membership for that deal, and assuming that you had one it would still mean about 50% more cost, plus the cost of sale tax added for the local sale (newegg does not collect sales tax for out of state sales).
On the plus side the Costco deal has a two year warranty, Costco's generous return policy, and the TCL set at Costco has that very nice full featured Roku built in.
Picture wise I think the Vizio is a bit better but it is not a major difference.
Certainly worth it to a Costco member to weigh the pros and cons.
I almost mentioned the TCL at Costco but thought it might be TMI. Glad you did.

ps. you are also right about Walmart having good deals on refurbs, but this Vizio set refurbed at Walmart is over $100 more when you add in the sales tax that Walmart collects.

Based on the reviews I would say yes.

I've read that the panel type for the e2 model varies (ips vs VA) by the serial number, but I don't know how reliable that is

correct, they are labeled as monitors, tuners are extra. I'd bite if this was M series HDR and local. I would be careful about Newegg TV returns, could be a problem.

Is this one better than the TCL Costco sold for $368 months ago?

Yeah I searched reviews and found it on the visio site for 469 , if i was to pull the trigger I would pay the extra money for peace of mind

As stated this is a monitor not a TV, you will need an external tuner and the remote is minimal can be cumbersome for the technology-challenged... just a heads up.

I used to have this tv until
I upgraded to the Tcl p series. Very solid tv/monitor/display or whatever you want to call it for the price. Keep in mind though it only has one hdr HDMI input so you may want to invest in a 4K hdr switch.
