How's the video head on this? Need a video head but wondering if I should just strip the head off of this or just buy a dedicated one outright.

I just bought this tripod and tried using for the past few days. I hated how the legs locked and the tripod bubble level sucked. With panning shots the bubble level appears level on one side and completely off on the other side by the end of the panning.

I never really had that particular problem but it has multiple points of articulation so I can see where if one thing is off when panning it might throw it off. It's a good solid tripod especially at this price. I paid $30 more for it. There are a lot of things about it that are annoying though. I don't like how the legs lock either. It's confusing and unwieldy and I've gotten pinched a few times. The case is terrible. The strap isn't long enough. You have to flip the legs for it to fit and even then you can't close the bag as it seems like it was designed with a ball head in mind. The hook in the center has to be removed to flip the legs and the hook isn't large enough and is made of plastic. Can only fit a thin strap in it. The head itself is really good and smooth and is quite compact for a fluid filled head. You have a movable plate that gives you a solid adjustable platform but takes a little longer to get dialed in.

Bottom line you won't find a fluid head Manfrotto for this price anywhere. It's a solid tripod. While I expected a bit more refinement at a tripod at this MSRP it's an excellent buy at this price. But it has its quirks that make it somewhat cumbersome to use. I suggest to look at some YouTube reviews for more of an opinion.

Note I'm only using this with a Sony a6000 so I haven't put any weight on it.

Another thing I forgot to add is that I bought this for the eclipse and the head was able to point straight up in the sky for hours without me having to adjust it except to track the sun. Granted I was using a mirrorless camera and lens but still a testament how good the head is. Especially at this price.

This is a piece of junk. I purchased and returned.
Manfrotto makes some great ones like the 190 series and others, but this is cheap parts and not worth having even at the better deal I got it for.
