That is an older model, with 30 separate LEDs. Newer models use the more efficient COB LEDs.

Those are great, but get ready to be blinded, I bought a 3 pack at costco, cut a diffuser from a milk jug. opened up the flashlight and put it in there.

Amazon sent these to me by mistake and told me to keep them, actually came in handy when our power went out. they lasted 8+ hours with the cheapo batteries that came with them.

I agree, never thought about a diffuser though. I know what i will be doing later, drinking a teat-load of milk and making diffusers .

The COB LEDs are so much better. Brighter, and more efficient. The TacLight and Atomic Beam lanterns use this.

do you think the COB is 50% longer lasting?

Yep. I saved the white bag it came in and use it as a diffuser. I like the jug idea, will try with water jug.
