Micro Center Black Friday Now - Gaming Desktops $999

I had been looking to build a new gaming rig for my son and came across this build from Micro Center that was better than what I was looking to put together, especially for the price:

I liked this combo with a 1070 graphics card and all SSD storage at 480GB, which is the size I was looking to pick for him.

Looking through case after I got it home, the SSD is a Micron M600 SATA in the M.2 form factor (took me a while to figure that one out - knowing it was a SATA drive, I was looking for a 2.5" drive in one of the bays).

The video card in mine is an MSI Aero GTX 1070 8GB. While I'm sure the specific brand can vary, that's the class of card that comes in the box.

I came up with about $1400 worth of stuff if I tried to buy it all and assemble myself.

Micro Center also has the same combo with a Ryzen 7 1700 processor for $80 more if you want something that offers the multi-processor capability that AMD brings:

These are in store only deals and limited to 1 per house hold - though they did let me buy two, YMMV. Dad deserves a Christmas, too

The price is good through the 23rd.

I'm intel biased so I'll go with the first one. Memory speed doesn't make much of a difference. If you getting it for gaming. Lookup videos showing people running different ram speeds and you'll see it doesn't do much.

Memory speed makes a big difference with Ryzen. Not so much with the i7 7700.

I start to believe Alienware's 8th i7 1080 for 1099 is pretty cheap. People need to add ssd and ram though
